Where are you ordering from?

This sets your currency and how tax is shown. The plate itself can show any address in a place we support.

      Terms of sale

These terms apply when you buy a plate or a gift code from us. We wrote them in plain words. Please read them before you pay. The refunds and corrections page is part of these terms.

      1. Who sells to you

The seller is Thoughts in Action BV, a company in the Netherlands, trading as Realm of Home. Our full company details are on the imprint page. You can write to us at support@realmofhome.com or through the contact page.

Company registration number: 89017587. VAT number: NL864854717B01.

      2. What we sell

We sell personalised digital content, made to order, and if you choose it a printed poster of it: an illustrated 3D plate of the place you choose, drawn from open map data. You receive files to download: a print-master PNG, a flat map, and with Premium also a print-ready PDF and a short reveal film. Some orders also include a combined poster file.

You can print the files yourself, or order a printed poster at checkout. A poster is made to order by our print partner and delivered rolled in a tube, without a frame. A gift code buys the plate for someone else.

      3. Ordering and the approval step

The preview is free, small and carries a watermark. It does not oblige you to buy anything. Before you pay, we show you a list of every text you typed: names, years, captions, title and dedication. You must tick a box to say that you checked names, years and spelling. We draw exactly what is on that list.

The contract is made when your payment has succeeded and we have confirmed your order by email.

      4. Prices, tax and payment

We sell to customers in the United States and in the countries of the European Union. Prices in the US are in US dollars and exclude sales tax; if sales tax applies to your order, checkout shows it before you pay. Prices in the EU are in euros and include VAT. The country you choose at checkout decides the currency. The United Kingdom and other countries are not open yet.

You always see the final amount before you pay. You pay by card through Stripe. We never see your card number.

      5. Delivery

After payment we draw your plate at print quality. This can take several minutes. We then open your download page and email you the link. The page stays available for 365 days after delivery; after that the files are deleted. Keep your own copy.

If a drawing fails, we try again, and if it still fails we refund you in full automatically. The details are on the refunds and corrections page.

A printed poster goes to the printer 24 hours after payment, so you can still correct a typo. Delivery usually takes 6 to 9 working days; further away it can take longer. Outside the United States and the EU, local taxes or import duties may apply and are paid by the receiver.

      6. What you may do with your files

You may use your files for yourself and for gifts: print them at any print shop, frame them, and share them. You may not sell them, rent them out, or use them in a product or for advertising without our written permission. If you want that, write to us first.

The credit line. Every plate carries a credit line for the map data. It must stay visible and complete when you print or share the file: do not crop it, cover it or remove it. The map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), and other open sources may be named on the plate too. Our map data page lists them.

      7. Corrections

You can change the text on a delivered plate once, for free, within 14 days after delivery: names, years, captions, title and dedication. The places stay as they are. See the refunds and corrections page.

      8. Refunds and your right to withdraw

We give you more than the law requires: a refund if we cannot deliver, and a full refund within 14 days if you have not downloaded the print files. The refunds and corrections page says exactly how this works.

If you buy in euros as a consumer in the EU, you can normally withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. For digital content, that right ends once we start to deliver, if you agreed that we start straight away and you acknowledged that you lose the right. At checkout in euros we ask you for both. This does not take away our own refund promises on the refunds page.

      9. Gift codes

A gift code is valid for 365 days from purchase, can be used once, and cannot be exchanged for money. It buys the plate it was bought for. A Basic code can be upgraded to Premium by paying the difference. Buy codes for several people separately. If you lose a code, write to us from the email address you bought it with and we can send it again.

      10. Gifts with a reveal date

You choose the day and, if you like, the email address of the person who gets the gift. On that day, at 8 in the morning in the time zone of your browser when you ordered, we email the unveiling link. If you leave the email address empty, we send the link to you. You are responsible for using an email address that you may share.

      11. Your content

You promise that you may use the addresses and the texts you give us, and that they are not unlawful, hateful or abusive. If you enter the address of another person, make sure that person is happy about it. We may refuse an order or a text for these reasons. If we do, we refund you in full.

      12. What the plate is not

It is a decorative illustration. It is not a survey, not a legal or boundary document, and not for navigation or emergency use. Buildings and other features can be missing, simplified or out of date, because open map data is made by volunteers and public bodies.

      13. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits rights that you have by law, and nothing limits our liability for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury. Beyond that, our liability for a defect in a plate or a delay is limited to the price you paid for that order.

      14. Complaints and disputes

If something is wrong, write to us first. We read every message and try to solve it with you. If we cannot, you can bring the matter to the court in the country where you live, or to a dispute body in your country, where one exists. We are not a member of a dispute-resolution body.

      15. Governing law

Dutch law applies to these terms and to your order. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection that the mandatory law of the country where you live gives you. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory law lets you go to the court where you live.

      16. Language and changes

These terms are written in English. Translations help you read them; if a translation and the English text differ, the English text applies, except where the law of your country says otherwise. We may update these terms. The version that was in force when you ordered applies to that order.
